A blossom blossoms when it blossoms...it’s not a race or a competition to be more open than the other blossoms.  Surrender to the ease and the breath of the bloom without forcing it - it will happen when it’s supposed too.

The mind is like the sky.
Thoughts within the mind are like the clouds. 
At any given moment, the mind may be full of thoughts just as the sky may be full of clouds.  However - neither mind, sky, thoughts, nor clouds are the true being that sees and witnesses these phenomenal things.  They are a phenomenon that simply happens.  If one gets still they begin to discover that mind, sky, thoughts, and clouds are perceived...by something much greater that is wordless and formless.

Practice getting still to see this overarching truth, it’s one of the first steps to liberation.  Once we begin to see this truth; we no longer are affected, controlled, and pulled away from the present moment (NOW) by the ever transitory thoughts (clouds) that the mind (sky) may hold. 
Most of the suffering I see in this world is a direct result of attachments to thoughts and the self-identification that is developed around those thoughts.  It’s where I struggled for many years.  It doesn’t have to be this way, but so long as we are trapped in our minds with our heads in the clouds about who and what we think we are, and focused on what makes us separate...suffering will prevail.  The deeper truth is - once we leave these Earth suits we call bodies...all of our attachments to who and what we think we were surrounding the body, sex, color, identity, etc. no longer pre-VEILs, because that VEIL of form is now lifted. 👌🏽 Yoga is the word and name that is given to the proverbial bridge that leads us back to our true being beyond form, beyond shape, beyond, words, beyond thoughts, and beyond the Maya of self.  Maya is the grandeur illusion that has us believe that we are separate. 💚🙏🏽☺️ 📸: Took a drive this past Monday through the mountains - yes the sky was this blue if not bluer!

lately life seems to be going by so fast. I’m loving what I’m doing but I usually end up putting too much on my plate resulting in a breakdown. 🙄 thanks to momma nature & the imbalance of hormones my body produces, I’m in a glass case of emotions and having a mental breakdown about turning 30. 🥳 (insert kids cheering YAY! sound bite)💀earlier I was tweaking out, so when I got home I sat on the bed, closed my eyes, and listened to my breath (between sobbing and sniffling the gross booges). I let myself have a moment, aka ugly cry. sometimes you just need a good cry 😢 to release whatever you’re feeling so that way you can GET👏🏼OVER👏🏼IT👏🏼 and move past it. or else I’m that girl trying to keep it locked up and together all day until someone says hi to me and I 🤬 lose it. and to me — that is yoga 🧘🏼‍♀️ there’s an energy I’ve got that isn’t serving me for my best. so instead of locking it in a cage and bringing it everywhere I go, I allow myself to let it come, feel it, then let it go. BYE! 👋🏼 that’s only ONE ☝🏼 of the most important lessons yoga has taught me. what about you?✨🌸💕

Have you ever noticed how differently the world interacts with you when you aren't closed off? It's in our nature to connect, but it's really hard to do that when we're all hunched over (... on our phones), constantly protecting ourselves from things that haven't happened (and will probably never happen). We're so scared of exposing ourselves, and I get that - it's the human condition to remember one sting one time then a thousand hugs a thousand times - but try. Try to let the world see you. Roll your shoulders back, unclench your jaw, lift your chin up, and look the people around you in the eye. Be seen and let others be seen. Yes, it's initially uncomfortable, but it's amazing the things that happen once you've opened up. ⛰️💚🧘

After being back in the matrix for a little over 24 hours, I feel a great shift. I took this picture the day before my #Ayahuasca journey not knowing what I was going into. I didn’t want to read about other people’s experiences, thoughts or ideas of it. I didn’t want it to taint my experience or bring up any expectations. Earlier this year because the chronic pain had not gotten better I asked 2 of my trusted guides if I would benefit from Ayahuasca and without a doubt they both said yes. They said I needed to release trauma that was stored in my body. So I set the intention to find this medicinal plant and the Universe helped me out. The journey for me was both beautiful and soul crushing. All of the uncomfortable emotions that I’ve been experiencing not only come up but were so intensified. The visions I saw were beyond words, the purge that comes with it was another journey in itself. I ended up taking 3 offerings of the medicine and coincidentally I went in with 3 intentions. I took this picture the day before the ceremony and little did I know that all my visions were of going to be of flowers 🌸 I found so much clarity and feel so grounded from this single experience and I know this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship and growth with Mama Aya.

I felt free. I wasn't female, I had no age, I wasn't brunette nor was I a redhead - I wasn't any specific size nor shape. I had no past, future, nor any sense of time whatsoever. No awareness of what or who I was supposed to be. No awareness of what I was supposed to look like. 
I was only energy. I was only movement. 
I was complete.
This evening I ran. I ran with no Garmin, no watch, no idea what time it was, no expectations, and no limits.
I didn't push, but I didn't hold back.
No expectations. No limits.
I felt free. I wasn't female, I had no age, I wasn't brunette nor was I a redhead - I wasn't any specific size nor shape. I had no past, future, nor any sense of time whatsoever. No awareness of what or who I was supposed to be. No awareness of what I was supposed to look like.
I was only energy. I was only movement.
I was complete.

A moment of #beauty this morning.  Every other Sunday morning we get up really early and drive to the place my daughter loves to volunteer. This is her thing, and we've been doing it for years, but as she is not 18 I have to be on the property. So I sit in the car. Most times I nap, sometimes I read, but this morning I spent at least a few of the moments noticing how the light changed as the sun came up, spreading it's light across the trees that I  park in front of.  It's a beautiful morning and the windows and the sunroof are open, the birds are having a chorus, and I'm feeling incredibly #grateful for the #unfiltered #serenity.

The answer was “no” five years ago and it’s still “no” today. The physical aspect of yoga is another “way in” that doesn’t have to involve talking therapies or psychological analysis. It’s a way to drop down deep beneath our thoughts, beneath what makes me ME, and what makes you YOU. It’s a way in to dissolve all that constitutes duality. It’s something that is bigger than us. What a relief to know that there’s more to us than the stories we create!

I had an abortion, and I knew in my heart of hearts that it was not my path and it was not my time to bring an innocent child into this life. I know that this soul came into my life to show me just that and I know that this was her mission. Not all pregnancies are meant to be, some come to teach us lessons and I am eternally grateful for mine. No one then or now could tell me what to do with my body. Food for thought from the article "The Real Secret to Life Balance" by Lauren Bacon.  This is a sample matrix, and while it may not represent exactly where I would place each thing,  I love the idea of thinking of activities as energizing versus depleting.  I also love the thought that "finding balance" is more like fuel management instead of a scale constantly tipping this way and that. .

‼️ warning! Yoga rant ahead‼️ Ah Instagram- Or social media in general. You’re a double- edged sword. When I first started practicing yoga years ago I was so inspired by all the crazy poses and hundreds and thousands of likes and comments these big “Instagram yogis” got. But at some point I became consumed. Consumed by an unrealistic world where all that mattered was holding the pose for two seconds, filtering it to be magnificent and vibrant, quoting something Yõga-ish and inspirational then sitting back to see how many likes and comments I got. 
Then I went through teacher training. Because again, I saw on social media much of these insta yogis were teachers. So again I was influenced to be like them. But something happened when I became a yoga teacher. Being a teacher was in the real world. And it didn’t matter how many followers I had. Or my expensive luluemon mat. Or my ALO goddess leggings and matching sports bras. To be honest I was embarrassed. No one knew who I was because of Instagram. No one cared that I had expensive yoga clothes or thousands of followers. If anything it made me really self-conscious. I looked self-absorbed. I looked like I thought I was better than everyone else. And I wasn’t. And I’m not. And I never will be. AND THAT'S AWESOME. Being a yoga teacher humbled me. 
And it wasn't just being a teacher, It was being in a yoga class, being off social media. It was meeting like-minded people that didn’t care about social media and likes. They just wanted health and happiness. It was realizing how petty and ridiculous being a social media “guru” was. I was nothing like what I portrayed online.  NOTHING. I wasn’t even as STRONG as what I looked like I was!!! (Hello screen shot world!!!) Real yoga is what you practice when you’re not in front of your phone or your camera. 
Real Yoga comes from inside yourself. It’s not your expensive outfits and mats and props and all the Yõga challenges -which by the way are great marketing strategies for these companies you’re working for and not really getting paid 🤷🏼‍♀️ - It’s so much more than that. We can’t even pretend to be teaching real yoga over here. ⬇️rest of rant in comments!⬇️.

How life feels right now: it's  beautiful,  it's  blooming, it's perfectly imperfect, and there is so much about to happen. I came home from an amazing yoga weekend feeling put back together - refreshed, excited and inspired - and this  was at the end of my driveway.  One stem acting as a not so subtle reminder that it is possible to be gloriously in bloom AND about to reach higher and bloom even more 🌹 .

We are teachers of yoga as opposed to instructors of asana, that is a distinction we take pride in but it means our style is different from typical vinyasa. Our classes may start with a short discussion on philosophy, breath work to calm the mind, a simple chant or a community discussion. Our vinyasa flows are slow so that you can align yourself, all of you, into the poses. If you are coming to yoga to get a killer workout-we probably won’t be what you are looking for. Movement IS Medicine!  I love this picture.  It reminds me of the joy I get from dancing.  Am I that great at it? Not really...does  it bring me joy? Yes! Not only does the movement ofdance bring me joy, the choreography challenges my brain, this group of friends makes me happy and the challenge of performing is something that tests my courage.. Finding something that incorporates your passion, movement, your brain and your resolve keeps us healthy. My practice has shifted so much within the past 2 months, and for some it would seriously appear pretty boring because I’m not practicing any advance movements at the moment. I’m not feeding the already overabundant fire side of my personality, but instead I’m diving inward and finding nourishment in my practice.

I haven’t stepped on my mat in 3 days, which is something a year ago I would have been ashamed to post because somehow that meant I wasn’t enough of a yogi, which is complete bullshit by the way.

So, with the wrist pain (beforehand, as well as since) and the surgery last week, my asana practice seriously altered and then took a hiatus.
If it requires bearing weight on my palms, it couldn't happen without pain. That means every part of a Vinyasa left my practice, while I introduced into the regular routine: dolphin, puppy and low plank in its place.
Anyway, I have been experiencing some serious frustration over my can't do's.
Then I remembered that I can do one side of a side plank. And I finally felt comfortable enough, today, to play with my inversion bench with only one hand to brace. I also figured out how to dismount by stepping down, then slowly dropping my knees to the middle support.

Practice on the mat reflects your life off of it, right?

Wise Speech is one of my favorite practice topics because it is SO relevant to our daily lives. We can develop lots of skills on the mat, have plenty of insights on the cushion...and still struggle with applying those in communication with others.

To really live by our values requires being mindful of our speech. Words have an incredible power to create peace and healing, or tremendous divisiveness and harm.

While “speaking our truth” is important, and honesty is KEY, that alone isn’t enough to ensure that our words will lead towards understanding and connection. It’s not hard to think of examples where someone said something honest, but it was done in a hurtful way, or delivered at an inappropriate time. 🤔

The Buddha suggested 4 criteria for Wise Speech:
• Is it true?
• Is it helpful?
• Is it timely?
• Is it kind?
. . .
I have found this to be a great “filter” for testing what I’m about to say or write...it needs to be true but ALSO useful, timely and kind. Not that I do this perfectly, but I’m inspired to think what the world would be like if more of us tried. 🌎 ☮️

Today I found out that I have 3 herniated discs in my neck and tendinitis in both my shoulders. It takes a lot of energy, emotionally, physically and mentally to seek medical treatment. I never thought my pains were so bad I just kept thinking they were past injuries that got worse over time. Like I was just way too stiff and needed to learn how loosen up. Never did I imagine this. I tried everything, but a proper diagnostic test. Maybe I was in denial, maybe I subconsciously knew it would be deep. Whatever it was it stopped me from finding the answers I needed to feel better. Over time my pain got worse and worse and I thought I could fine solutions through holistic modalities but nothing seemed to work. My pain was multifaceted. I avoided western medicine because of the prescriptions and falty idea of treatment rather than healing. Going from appointment to appointment does something to you psychologically and I couldn’t find a cure. Thankfully now that I know exactly what’s causing the pain I can find a way. I was 16 years old in this picture and not at 33 years old I can no longer ignore these pains I’ve been given. I treat my body with the utmost care and respect. It has taken me this far and I can’t tell you how scary this news is for me. 17 years since I was involved in this crazy car accident that rocked my world upside down. What a coincidence that I recently got in another car accident right around this time years ago. Around the anniversary every year I get very emotional and this time is too close for comfort. My injuries, disabilities, and short comings have been both a blessing and a curse... continues in comments

Nature is our greatest teacher. In order for growth, we too must root down and spread out. There’s so much purpose that occurs down bellow in the dirt. So many lessons to be learned and wisdom to be gained before you emerge from the darkness. 🌱 I need this advice right now.
