✨Part 1 of this case series:
Who remembers MSUD? 🤷♂️
Of course, it is Maple Syrup Urine Disease! 🙄
I vaguely remembered this rare disease at the time I was reviewing my patient’s medical history but I honestly could not recall that much.
And then it dawned on me how lucky and fortunate I was to be in a dental school that did require 2 years of medical school! 👨⚕️ I actually went back to my notes (and yes, I still kept them! 🙄) and lo and behold, MSUD was indeed taught in one of my HMS’ block. 🧐 Must have snoozed 😴 through that one! 🤣
Back then all I wanted to do was learn about teeth 🦷 and have a good time in Boston. 🍻 🎊
I would often complain and moan about learning stuff that I thought would never apply to my profession. 😤
I was completely wrong and now I strongly feel that I could not have been any more prepared for my specialty in periodontics where the medical history is often so long and complicated in our patient pool. 🤓
So, thank you HMS @harvardmed for helping me become a more complete periodontist!!! 🙏
Now, some #flashbackfriday
from the good ol’ days in Boston. Yeah, we liked to have fun 🤟 but we did learn a lot on the way! Swipe ◀️◀️◀️
The clinical photos of this case will be posted soon!
