St.Johns ground opens only at 6:00. So, woke up at 5:00 to be there in time after morning chores (glass of chia seeds soaked overnight in water, roasted pumpkin and flax seeds, spirulina tablets and bullet coffee - black coffee with a teespoon of cold press coconut oil, without sugar)... But realised I had a terrible back pain. Managed to get in a few stretches and some foam rolling before leaving home to soothe my back, it was not fully alright but good enough to help me complete the workout... Today’s workout: 10kms Steady. Target pace : 5:25/km @jjsrunning #steadyrun

Reached the ground late due to unplanned issues with my back and started my run after warm up... the back pain started creeping in after 3rd Kms... I kept pushing, but had 7kms more ahead of me... Stopped for a bit after 5th Kms, did a few back bend stretches - cobra pose, looking at heel over shoulder for both sides, and felt better... continued to complete my mileage but the pain relentlessly came back at 7th... Paused for a bit again, did those stretches and pushed it in the last 3 Kms.... You don’t just get up one day and automatically go on auto pilot towards recovery. 
Your ED voice doesn’t just become quiet because you wish to recover. 
It’s still there. 
Some days quieter than others, but some weeks/months louder than others.
I’ve been feeling hypocritical recently. Here I am trying to be a light for others and give advice about recovery, when In all honesty, I still suffer. I’m not in anyway recovered. Sure, I will try a fear food here and there, but it still scares me. 
I’ve fallen back into the compensation game. I’ll eat this only if I can burn it all off on the gym later. Or I’ll go out and try that, only if I starve for the next few days after. 
Then that’s turned into calorie obsession, and restriction day in and out. 
I’ve learned that my eating disorder is a complex thing. I’m learning more and more as the days go on. But I know for me, I get high off of the control. I love controlling how little I put into my mouth. How long I can go. 
I’m tired of fighting the eating disorder. 
But here I am. Living, breathing, and still in recovery💕

I took a time lapse to make sure I didn’t sook out, keeping myself accountable, so no backing out 👍

So today was our family reunion, and it was so wonderful. I stayed in control all day. Until... we went to my cousin’s restaurant (it’s a fancy place) for dinner. I haven’t been in years and the food is incredible. Ya girl ate well too 🤩 I ain’t even mad about it because I ate more intentionally than I have in a long time in a situation like this. I didn’t eat until i was stuffed like I have in the past. I stopped eating when I was full💁🏻‍♀️ even tho I’m over my calories again today, I know that time with family that I never see is more important. I’ve been having a particularly tough couple weeks (this week being the worst) when it comes to coping with my perspective of myself and my weight loss. I have been really beating myself up and dealing with some mild depression that I’m trying to come out of but it’s one of those things that you can’t really control. I’m discouraged, I’m angry, and I’m confused. I seem to have forgot how to do the one thing I thought I had down (which was foolish). I’m mad at myself for gaining weight back and I’m mad at myself for not being able to lose it again. Anyways, hopefully if anyone else is going through a rough patch they can see this and know they aren’t alone or whateva.

Como Lograr un Cuerpo “Tonificado” y Mi Primer Selfie en Bikini 🙈 | Bueno, ya me siento como una narcisista pero lo que me motiva en subir esta foto es ayudar a otras mujeres y mostrarles que levantar pesado en el gimnasio no les convertirán en un hombre. .
Amigas, dejan de creer los mitos y los miedos en cuanto a lo que pasará con tus cuerpos a levantar pesado. Tienen miedo de que tus cuerpos se van a poner corpulentos. Que se van a poner grandotas, o por último, se van a ver como un hombre 🤦🏻‍♀️ Entiendo que eso es lo último que quieren y lo que buscan es un cuerpo “tonificado”. Pero déjame explicarles…

La masa muscular no se gana de un día para el otro. Lleva muchísimo tiempo. Años, chicas…años! Cuando alguien se parece “bulky” o corpulento usualmente no es por la cantidad de músculo que tengan sino porque tienen un porcentaje de grasa corporal más alto. .
Si lo que buscas es “tonificar” tu cuerpo, amiga, lo que realmente estás diciendo es que quieres bajar tu % de grasa. A la vez, cuando dices que quieres bajar de peso, lo que realmente buscas es mantener tu masa muscular y perder el % de grasa. .
Si lo único que hacen es cardio, claramente se van a bajar de peso…pero - y esto es clave - bajar de peso significa perder grasa Y músculo. Es decir, estarás flaquita y sin figura. La masa muscular es lo que te deja esa hermosa figura de ‘una botella de coca-cola’ que muchas de nosotras andamos buscando. Para lograr esa figura tienes que dejar el miedo de lado y entender que los entrenamientos de resistencia en conjunto con un deficit calórico te dará ese cuerpo “tonificado”. Por último, deja de decir tonificado y empieza a decir un cuerpo fuerte. Gracias 😘

Acá esta mi cuerpito después de una fase de dieta de 16 semanas con 6 semanas de mantenimiento. Perdí 6,2 kilos pero me puse más fuerte con cada semana. Es decir, perdí grasa y gané masa muscular. Siento que me veo fuerte y femenina a la vez. .

La masa muscular no se gana de un día para el otro. Lleva muchísimo tiempo. Años, chicas…años! Cuando alguien se parece “bulky” o corpulento usualmente no es por la cantidad de músculo que tengan sino porque tienen un porcentaje de grasa corporal más alto. .
Si lo que buscas es “tonificar” tu cuerpo, amiga, lo que realmente estás diciendo es que quieres bajar tu % de grasa. A la vez, cuando dices que quieres bajar de peso, lo que realmente buscas es mantener tu masa muscular y perder el % de grasa. .
Si lo único que hacen es cardio, claramente se van a bajar de peso…pero - y esto es clave - bajar de peso significa perder grasa Y músculo. Es decir, estarás flaquita y sin figura. La masa muscular es lo que te deja esa hermosa figura de ‘una botella de coca-cola’ que muchas de nosotras andamos buscando. Para lograr esa figura tienes que dejar el miedo de lado y entender que los entrenamientos de resistencia en conjunto con un deficit calórico te dará ese cuerpo “tonificado”. Por último, deja de decir tonificado y empieza a decir un cuerpo fuerte. Gracias 😘

Strong as a mother. 👊🏼 Tonight I feel like getting something off my chest. Life is freakin’ hard, right? Every single person in life, on the gram, who reads this post is going through something. And every single person copes with their “something” differently, right? For years, my coping mechanism was saying there’s no time for ME because all my time was for everyone else. As a result, my weight wasn’t coming off, I was tired as heck alllllll the time, I stayed in my pjs all through the mornings, and my “me” time was watching reality tv way past my bedtime, and then waking up and doing it all over again.
It. Wasn’t. Working.

So when I decided to do this coaching thing a second time around, it’s picked me up out of a wave of defeat. For one, by working on ME, I’ve become less selfish and more selfless. Because I’ve allowed this community to pour into me, I have more energy to pour into my family and interests. And funny when you start to work on your mind first, everything else seems to fall into place.

Guys, my weight loss journey is just a perk. The residual income I’m making by helping others is exciting. My superfoods shakes are delicious. As a middle distance runner I need a variety of endurance and speed training sessions.
The 800m race is about 50% aerobic and 50% anaerobic.
I usually get up to about 80-90km of running per week in off season and more like 55-70km on average in race season (even less before big races). The schedule includes lots of long runs, tempo running (slower than race pace but still pushing a bit- about 80-90% effort) interval running and sprint training as well as 2 gym sessions per week and extra core work etc.
This was todays first tempo session back after a week off for my end of season break 😁🍁🏃🏃🐕

I took these picture literally seconds apart. And yet, it appears (at least I think) as though my shoulders are significantly larger in the first than the second.  This serves as a prime example of how easily what we see on social media can be manipulated to portray photos that are so far from real life (not that this isn’t real life, but you get me). And this example is WITHOUT photo shop or any other alterations- just a slightly different angle and my appearance is significantly changed.  It breaks my heart that the media is so influential in today’s day and age- controlling how people dress, act, eat, look, and especially how they feel about themselves.  Because what you see on social media is RARELY real life.  Even these two pictures, though both are natural and real, show how easily an appearance can be changed.  We let unreal people and appearances mold our entire beings.  It’s ridiculous.  Let’s stop that.  Let’s start being REAL with ourselves and stop basing our worth on likes and social media profiles.  And with these profiles, let’s start encouraging self love, happiness, and acceptance instead of beauty and perfection.  Let’s start lifting each other up, rather than stepping on one another in attempt to get to the top. What do you say- who’s with me?

My relationship with food used to be so complicated and filled with anxiety and regret. I used to be so scared of bread and pasta and even stopped eating rice for a while which is crazy for an Asian! But slowly slowly after I stopped being restrictive with eating and stopped labelling foods as good or bad or healthy or naughty my relationship with food changed completely, now I really listen to my body which was really difficult at first because I spent years ignoring its signs. I’ll try and eat when I’m hungry and stop when I’m full (my dessert stomach seems limitless though). Food is one of the joys of life and we don’t need to make it so complicated so enjoy every single Easter egg you eat this weekend!! 💛💛💛
