A new big project in the making... A personal challenge.... A navigation of edges... This post is to keep me publicly accountable for making this dream of mine a #reality.
Read on 👇🏻 Last year in December I was gifted a book that both awoken an old love of mine and sparked a new desire: a Voyage for Madmen tells the true story of nine sailors who set off in 1968 on the most daring race ever held: to single-handedly circumnavigate the globe nonstop. It was a feat that had never been accomplished and one that would forever change the face of sailing.
I would like to experience what it’s like to no longer see the land for days on end, and be cradled in the abundance of the sea. I want to journey and meditate in a place that isn’t #land.
I am also inspired by @gretathunberg and her dedication to a change that cannot wait til tomorrow. I believe in action over words and too many people are loud and quick to protest but passive when it comes to the daily changes that we will all be required to make at some point. Developing our skills for more human-powered activities is something I have fully engaged with, and will continue to commit to as a mission with Scapa Fest and the Scapa Community.
I have very little sailing experience, but I’m a Swiss Army knife of a woman 💪🏻 I learn quickly, I’m organised, and stay calm even when I’m terrified. I like figuring things out and solving problems. I can cook pretty well too.
Circumnavigating the globe is not the aim here, but going where my skills are needed on a voyage at sea is what I’d like to achieve, preferably leaving from Scotland.
Community, this is a call for #collaboration
