Today I celebrate the birth of the greatest woman I have ever known, my mom. Somehow she managed to hold my family’s entire world on her shoulders. Someday I hope to emulate her success and make her as proud of me as I am of her.
Not only did she juggle a full-time job as an ER nurse and medical sales rep, an entire household, marriage, two boys, rental properties, etc, etc. but she always was there when she was needed. She is strong as Hulk, humble as Captain America, witty as Iron Man, loyal as Hawkeye, fierce and creative as Black Widow, a leader like Nick Fury...basically my mom is The Avengers!
Nobody is perfect and she will be the first to admit it subsequently she has shown me what unconditional love means, through all of my personal struggles and family tribulations she has remained my rock⛰, my safe place, my counselor, my friend, my first love. Maybe I sound like a mamas boy right now but I really didn’t have much of a choice and why would I want to choose otherwise?
When the shadows of doubt and despair threaten to destabilize my inner peace by turning my thoughts against me, one of the best ways to I’ve found to combat is to recognize how fortunate I have been in this life.
Intentionally or unintentionally, she is an inspiration and has taught me how to rise above the mire and seek out the light, to remember love is the most powerful force in the universe. She won’t see this because she doesn’t do social media but the point of this post is simply to recognize her for the life/lives she has created and lovingly, selflessly nurtured into the grateful heart writing these words.
I can’t wait to see her to give her a huge hug and to say “Thank you for everything.” I truly could go on with words of truth and praise but in a halfhearted attempt to be concise and because my hands are starting to hurt; when they were handing out moms, I utterly lucked the f-out! #happybirthday #thankyou #mom #mothersday #portlandmom #momoftheyear #marchofdimesnurseoftheyear
