Excessively hyperextend the lower spine •Do these at a fast tempo
•Think of the movement as “up and down”
•Try to go as high and as low as you can
•Use the low back as the primary mover and working muscle . .

DO✅ (Second Video) . .

Maintain a neutral spine throughout the entire movement
•Use the glutes as the primary muscle and main mover •The movement should be focused on taking the glutes to a fully shortened and then fully lengthened position. To do these correctly, think of pinching and squeezing the glutes “in & down.” We must train the glutes from origin to insertion. •Keep these at a slow tempo to maintain position and increase time under tension •Your range of motion should be instead: go as low as it takes to fully lengthen the glutes and your end range will stop when the glutes are fully contracted and spine remains neutral . .

DON’T❌ (First Video) . .

Excessively hyperextend the lower spine •Do these at a fast tempo
•Think of the movement as “up and down”
•Try to go as high and as low as you can
•Use the low back as the primary mover and working muscle . .

DO✅ (Second Video) . .

Maintain a neutral spine throughout the entire movement
•Use the glutes as the primary muscle and main mover •The movement should be focused on taking the glutes to a fully shortened and then fully lengthened position. To do these correctly, think of pinching and squeezing the glutes “in & down.” We must train the glutes from origin to insertion. •Keep these at a slow tempo to maintain position and increase time under tension •Your range of motion should be instead: go as low as it takes to fully lengthen the glutes and your end range will stop when the glutes are fully contracted and spine remains neutral . .

Martial Monday training! Training for war and honing the inner warrior. Self motivated, because motivation comes from within, NOT from anyone else. You are your own warrior so train like one. My goal is always to blend the martial artist in me with the weightlifter and gear my training to prepare for anything. Still working in phase 3: strength and hypertrophy, here’s an example of how I cross train. Punch presses and hang clean to push jerk. On the martial arts side hitting punch presses working both stance with lead and reverse punches 2x6-8 and 2x4-6 moving heavy weight to increase punch power, stability, and core strength (keep your hands up!). On the weightlifting side hitting clean to push jerk 1x3+1 at 75%, 1x2+1 at 80%, and 3x2+1 at 85% of hang clean max to work pulls, overall explosiveness, power and strength. This is not including the cardio of sprints, heavy bag work, and speed work that follows or the night martial arts training. Gear your training for your goal and always keep your goal in sight.
