For example, I was bullied mercilessly in middle school and to this day, I still have a voice in my head that tells me I’m not likable. I’ve done enough therapy to know how to respond to that voice. It’s gotten much quieter over the years, but it’s still there - a little scar on my heart that reminds me of a childhood trauma.

What about the voice in your head? Today I challenge you to be extra mindful of your thoughts. It could be helpful to write your self-critical and negative thoughts down and then ask yourself, where did that thought come from? What person or painful experience in my life put this unkind thought in my head? Recognizing where our negative thoughts come from is the first step to emotional healing. ❤️"

Men cry, men breakdown, men suffer with eating disorders and suicidal thoughts, men deal with trauma, depression and are victims of domestic violence but men’s mental health seems to be kept in the dark. It’s not unmanly to struggle or to face and deal with emotions. We need to encourage our men to feel, heal and open up! not harden up! This is the man in my heart, the love of my life and light in my world. My significant other is not depressed right now but I’m using his photo for attention to share awareness about mens mental health. 
Men as well as women, acknowledge your feelings. Positive and negative energy needs to be acknowledged as part of the process to release or move on rather than supressing it.. if you don’t consciously release it and let it go you’ll probably find it buried and being the root cause for so many problems youll face later on. ⛓🛠 Don’t ever hesitate to reach out for help if it’s ever needed, there is help out there and you should not have to face the struggle alone. 🖤

Those who suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) are plagued with severe distrust, fear of abandonment, unstable mood swings, self image issues, and behavioral problems such as impulsivity which may lead to risky sexual activity and drug use. They are more likely to have experienced trauma in their childhood which may lead to PTSD or CPTSD (complex post traumatic stress disorder). People with BPD are also more likely to be depressed, have significantly more suicide attempts, and have short lived, tumultuous relationships. Depression in our community is usually called “the blues”, “a day” (for 2+ weeks), “just overwhelmed and tired”, and even “acting funny.” Common signs of depression are lack of energy, loss of interest in day-to-day activities and hobbies, feeling disconnected from others, darkness and heaviness, and so much more. To experience any of these for longer than two weeks at a time, depression is a possibility (not a guarantee). Depression can be linked to a chemical imbalance, seasonal effects (SAD), or even circumstantial situations. Without being able to label or understand depression, one may deal with depression by alcoholism, drug intake, excessive sleeping, declining hygiene, suicidal ideations. Seek professional help — a therapist, psychiatrist, and primary care physician for labs. Anxiety can sometimes feel like heart racing, overthinking, crying, stomach dropping/butterflies, clammy hands, and inability to regain control of self. If it is not chronic anxiety, try focusing on your breathing (count out loud while taking deep breaths), meditate, or even speaking a positive thought against what’s caused the anxiety. Typical dieting restriction scenario: Wants cookie. Eats rice cake. Then eats diet approved low calorie cardboard “cookie.” Then eats whole box of cookies they were trying to avoid in the first place. Then restricts again because of shame and guilt. It’s a dieting cycle and you’re not a failure if this happens to you.
