Today has been pretty unproductive. I slept until 6 (which is very late for me) and I have a cranky 2yo who won’t let me do anything and who won’t nap. I did get in my workout in between the 3 times I attempted to put him down for a nap. It’s always an adventure.

It doesn’t show all the times I had breakdowns in college or how in the past several months, I haven’t been myself at all. Or ANY of my struggles unless I choose to write about it and show you. - -

The point is, in this picture I look healthy & happy & for the most part I am. But in the past year my mental health has suffered a lot. Nobody knew because I chose to tell nobody, to struggle on my own. From this I learned that sometimes, we need help & support from others. Sometimes we need people to be there for us because we’ve struggled alone for so long & that’s okay. Instagram only lets me show you what I want you to know about my life but the truth is, I’ve struggled a lot in these past few months but I am working everyday to be the same happy & giggly person I was before. -

It’s a Monday, I’m missing vacay extra something today, and I’m waiting for a friend to land in San Diego so we can go consume large quantities of caffeine in the form of rainbow lattes. 🌈 ☕️ SO in the meantime, here are my top 3 tips on slimming down for a vacation. 🌴
.

1. DO take your time. If you’re going into a cut for vacation, take it slow. Don’t rush it. Unless you know how your body reacts to extreme dieting, it won’t be advantageous to run yourself into the ground for the sake of a bikini. Give yourself a solid 8-12 weeks and take a steady approach. You don’t want to run the risk of feeling like too much trash to get solid workouts in. Plus, feeling like trash can lead to binging either before your trip or even on your trip, which will cause unwanted weight gain, digestive problems, and water retention. Take. It. Slow. It will be more worth it to have a little extra body fat on vacation than be bloated and watery, and just miserable.

2. DO get your sleep and keep stress low. Going into a diet is going to put your body under some stress, so you’ll want to do what you can to minimize it. Sleep helps tremendously with recovery, and it will help to curb your cravings.
.

3. Speaking of cravings, DO keep yourself sane by not cutting out every food you enjoy. Dieting is tough, but when you can continue to eat foods you enjoy, it will make it easier. Download a macro tracker and consider implementing flexible dieting. I like to keep my main 3 meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) on the more nutrient dense side (side note - your meals do NOT have to be chicken, broccoli, and rice) and then I’ll make sure I leave room to track some foods that curb my cravings.

The face you make to your coach teammate when you know you're about to do great things! @jennpower0303 and I just spent the last 5 days at our annual coaching conference - Rachel Hollis, working out with Shaun T and Tony Horton...those weren't even the icing on the cake. ❤️💃🏻 We filled our cups with learning the importance of working through hardships and staying on the path of integrity no matter what. 🙏🏼We heard several transformation stories of people who were literally fighting for their lives and managed to lose 100+ lbs with the tools we love so much. We talked goals and dreams and the belief sunk in that we are capable of so much more! 💪🏼💪🏼👯‍♀️🔥 Jenn and I have HUGE goals in the upcoming months - better ways to serve others and to have them experience the magic at these events like we have. ❤️😍 We know there are so many women out there who deserve more than the life they are currently leading. I'm extremely food motivated and have dined at some truly amazing restaurants all over the world (I'm a sucker for steakhouse 🥩: oysters, shrimp cocktail, really great bread and butter, Caesar salads made tableside, and well-marinated NY strips). Good food is good food, no matter what you pay for it.  My best food story is going to 3 Michelin-star restaurants in Paris (one was the acclaimed Alain Ducasse at the Plaza Ethene at over $1100 for two before alcohol, where I asked in the middle of the meal quizzically, "Are you SURE we're at the right place?!"); yet, when I got back State Side and took one bite of my Taco Bell $2.79 nachos supreme, the flavor party in my mouth was more satisfying than the entire meal at Alain Ducasse. 😬🤷‍♀️

✨ Goblet Squats | 3 x 15 - Keep feet shoulder width apart, and sit back until your hips break parallel (look in a mirror if you are unsure). Squeeze your glutes on the way up.⁠⠀

✨ Straight Leg Deadlifts | 3 x 15 -  Keep your legs straight, and push back with your butt. Go as low your hamstring flexibility allows (around mid shin).⁠⠀

✨ Feet Elevated Glute Bridge | 3 x 15 - Press feet into the bench and lift your body while keeping your glutes tight (squeeze as hard as you can). Keep arms at your sides for support.⁠⠀

✨ Chest Flys | 3 x 10-12 - Hold weights above your chest and lower out to the sides keeping your elbows slightly bent and bring back to starting position.⁠⠀

✨ Bent Over Single Arm Row | 3 x 10/side - Place same hand and knee on the bench. With the weight in opposite hand pull the weight straight up (keeping elbow bent) and squeezing your shoulder blade. Remember to pull the weight with your back not your arms.⁠⠀

✨ Standing Shoulder Press | 3 x 10-12 - Stand with feet staggered for more balance. Keep your head straight and avoid pushing your head forward throughout the movement⁠⠀
