Okkkk if you’re like us we’ve noticed that our hangovers have gotten progressively worse... unfortunately 😉. We’ve tried all the tips above (minus the pickle juice) to no avail. Sure pedialyte is definitely helpful but it surely doesn’t take away the hangover. Well we learned that there might be some scientific evidence that our hangovers get worse as we age (another joy of aging 😜). Here’s the 101:
1. You have fewer liver enzymes:
Why? “Age can affect the ability of the liver in making making some drug-related metabolizing enzymes —the longer those enzymes take to break down the alcohol, the longer the booze stays in your body. More alcohol, then, is absorbed into your body, which results in higher levels of intoxication and” and yes that means worse hangovers. 🍺
2. You don’t drink as much as you once did:
Ever wonder why when you were 18 you could drink and be functional the next day and in your 30’s one glass of wine has you stuck in bed in all day. Well when you’re 18 you’re typically abusing your liver bc you’re drinking more and your body builds up a tolerance so you’re hangovers seem less but really you body becomes used to the abuse 😬.
3. Your body composition changes:
When we get older we often gain or loose weight. And alcohol is absorbed more quickly by water rich bodies: those that are more muscular. Sooo the more fat you have the longer alcohol stays in your body. 🍸
Let’s face it, some people can just drink. We all have friends like this and they are just born that way! I have relatives who are Irish and a lot of them can just handle their alcohol better 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏻♀️. 🍹
What are your guys thoughts? What do you do to help hangover? With the summer approaching and the rosé flowing we want to know your thoughts? .
