Kedarnath, Uttrakhand , India
Jai Bholey , that's what you say when you are on your way to one the most revered temples of Shiva and 1st one of the panch kedars ; Kedarnath. It is also one of the 12 jyotirlinga temples in the world.
I am fortunate and blessed to be able to visit the place along with 3 other fellow travelers to this abode of Shiva.
We were 4 guys , 2 on Motorcycles (Bullet n KTM) and 2 in Mahindra Thar.
We took a night hault at Devprayag and had a dip at Devprayag Sangam in morning. Devprayag is place of confluence of rivers Bagirathi and Alaknanda to form the river Ganga.
Next day we reached Sonprayag late evening, the road conditions were very poor as there is lot of road construction work was going on in this stretch.
From Sonprayag we reached gaurikund in shared cab as personal vehicles are not allowed after Sonprayag.
From Gaurikund we started our trek of 16 KM's to Kedarnath. We were pleasently surprised to see the amount of facilities and cleanliness all along the route. This is despite the fact that in June 2013 there was massive distruction in this region due to flash floods. Kudos to the efforts by government in rebuilding the route and facilities for common people.
We reached Kedarnath temple after 7 hrs of our continuous trek.On the way we met many fellow travellers of all age groups and it was an inspiring journey. All efforts paid off as soon as we reached Kedarnath dham. It was around 6pm and Evening Aarti had just begun. The whole experience of reaching Kedarnath and standing there and observing the vibrations was one of a kind experience.
We stayed for next 2 days at Kedarnath and explored the surroundings.
The energy of the place is just amazing and the sound of mantras/chants keeps reverbating in your ears in the serene surroundings.
