Working out how to draw ideas from my graphic novel/series proposal. There are Highwaymen with advanced technology like drones and rail guns, but there is all sorts of anti surveillance/defence tech and satellite black zones to counter a lot of those things. Plus there are ten nearly invincible robots that have special powers masquerading as humans controlled by a puppeteer of the underworld. Then there's the Daredevil With A Death Wish, political prank hackers, anonymous enclaves, black ops cities, fried insect fast food, etc. I thought Cyberpunk was dead when I made this all up like seven years ago, but now there's been a Blade Runner sequal, a Ghost In The Shell live action movie, and it doesn't mean the Matrix anymore (believe it or not one of my least favorite Cyberpunk stories). I'll take Existenze(with life crush Jennifer Jason Leigh), Dark City, Ghost In The Shell (the comic, specifically Masamune Shirow is a huge influence on this comic), and Akira(same), the masterpiece to match Blade Runner in this hemisphere, over Matrix any day.
But my visual development, my idea of beauty in film is all from Blade Runner. And since Ridley Scott is self admittedly channeling my favorite, Moebius, it is a real world. Something that a frame can't hold, it bleeds past that. It's pure imagination on all levels. That's what a story should be. What art should be. It should keep going past what you see. I know the first chapter only has one fight scene(that I loved writing). The rest is a story about escaping a crazy political region for doing some futuristic prank that goes awry. That's the set up to the crazy escape and the different groups trying to get this hacker. It's heavily William Gibson and Philip K. Dick influenced, and everything I mentioned above, obviously.
