The new line up for Crowded House and its impact on Fleetwood Mac.
Neil Finn has forced out a full time member of Crowded House Mark Hart after 30yrs.
The highly respected Hart (formerly of Supertramp) took to twitter without Finn's knowledge to announce his own demise, saying that Neil Finn had 'informed him that he would not be in the new line up'.
Finn has since confirmed the news stating a new line up will be announced 'but now is not the time'.
As Crowded House will be performing at the 2020 Byron Bay Bluesfest with Nick Seymour (guitar) along with the Grammy nominated producer Mitchell Froome who produced their first three albums, Finn appears to be short of both a keyboard player and drummer.
He explained his decision to part company with such a key member of the band after 30 years was about the need to create exciting new music with new collaborations.
Having forged particularly strong friendships with Christine McVie and Mick Fleetwood, expectations are that they will fill the two empty seats at Byron Bay and on a Crowded House tour, with Christine being one of the new collaborators behind the new music.
At the end of their current tour in Nov 2019 Fleetwood Mac is expected to go on hiatus meaning to all intents and purposes the band will be over, freeing Fleetwood and McVie to join Finn on his next Crowded House adventure.
Finn has sought to deflect criticism from dedicated Crowded House fans acknowledging their concerns, but suggested that CH has 'always been an evolution' with a number of line up changes over the years. 'Trust me' he said ' ... these decisions are made with much thought and love'.
The exclusion of a key band member after 30 years against their will and without explanation is straight out of the Mac playbook as is dismissing such a dramatic event as just another line up change, echoing the disingenuous nonsense by Mick Fleetwood in his ongoing attempt to excuse the decision to dramatically end Lindsey Buckingham's 43yr career with Fleetwood Mac.
