[in Robin Williams voice] GOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, INSTAGRAM!
...smile! What does instagram and audition holding rooms have in common? — There are loud corners and quiet ones. Yesterday I had such a hard time making #smalltalk
before my audition. And for the ones who know me both on- and offline: Coco bubbles. Yesterday I tried, too. But actors greeted me with silence or #quietsmiles.
I smiled back. I always smile. You see me smiling and laughing the hardest when I feel the worst. Some people just do. It’s fake, I thought.
And the virtual world here is so fake, too. I felt so sorry yesterday for feeling so fake. For smiling, even though no one was talking or joking. Maybe that’s life. I used it in the audition. The silence. At least it gave birth to a little #authenticity.
But the silence stuck with me. And it also made me wonder: What do we #tellstories
for? For the one who listens or just for ourselves?
I’ve always belonged to the one who tells stories for other people. I love engaging, #dialogue.
But sometimes it gets lonely when no one seems to care… When there are girls making a fortune posting photos of their pretty faces or nice asses with emoji captions. That’s it. And billions are watching, engaging, talking… ・・・
I’ve always liked #socialmedia,
right from the start. I liked it even before I went public with my whole story. Because on social media I could be anyone, just like you. I used to hide my #walkingdisability
for example. Because here, like in Hugo’s pretty picture, I’m just like you. Human. It’s so trivial, I loved it. But it’s fake, too. Just like all the life we paint, edit and snap here. One thing the virtual and real world have in common: It’s freaking lonely to think differently.
Maybe I’m thinking too complicated. Maybe I’m thinking too much. Maybe people just enjoy the simple things or maybe I should think more simple to tell you what I want to say. To say something… Either way, silence grows stamina and stamina thickens your — #ohsoflawless
— skin, no? [borrow Robin Williams voice again:] END OF MONOLOGUE.
