Welcome back to our Bridge Builders series, where we meet back here to learn about the wonderful and impactful #BridgeBuilders
Meet Tzemach Schloss, Gesher’s Security Forces Coordinator!
I have been involved in Gesher for almost five years now, having started as a Facilitator for four years prior to my role as Security Forces Coordinator. I’m currently finishing up my last year at Tel Aviv University studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) 📚. I grew up in Beit Shemesh and now live in Srigim Li On with my wife Estee (a previous Gesher facilitator herself). #About
your connection to Gesher
I first heard about Gesher when I was on a seminar in Herzliya and saw the various workshops they conducted and the amazing impact they were able to make on these students. I instantly felt so much comfort and hope in finding a place that really #bridgesthegap between the different sectors of Israeli society in a fun, dynamic, respectful and influential way. After that I decided I had to be involved and started as facilitator in the Education Department.
your role in Gesher
I’m the Security Forces Coordinator at Gesher, which includes IDF Training Courses, Officer Courses and helping Haredim integrate into their IDF units. I find my work with the IDF incredibly meaningful as the IDF serves as a central meeting point for Israelis of all backgrounds. It is, for many, the first time an Israeli will encounter a Jew from a different background and seeing these soldiers get to know one another and engage in meaningful dialogue is truly inspiring.
drive for social impact
My drive for social impact comes from seeing how much we judge one another and how many stereotypes we have built up without even knowing the other. Working at Gesher gives me the opportunity to interact with people who are different than me, come from a different background than I have, but serve as great friends nonetheless. It’s amazing how much you can learn from others and through this, how much you can learn about yourself.
we didn’t know about you
I’ve been a huge Hapoel Tel Aviv fan since I was in first grade! ⚽️
