NOLA-Style BBQ Shrimp Skillet
There is NOTHING healthy about this dish. It's spicy and rich and oh too tasty to be good for you, well...if you're on keto you could partake, but really, life is too short not to indulge once in awhile.
This dish is more reminiscent of something you would find in NOLA, but I remember the first time my hubby and I tried it. He was not my hubby yet and we were doing a road trip from NM to IA and stopped for BBQ in Kansas City bc it was raining heavily outside. The waiter brought out this sizzling skillet of heaven. We liked it so much we got another order (don't judge us there were only like four shrimps in the appetizer). I'm not sure the recipe they used but this tastes pretty darn close and it's TASTY AF!
1 tablespoon Louisiana Hot Sauce (do less or more based on your heat tolerance)
1/2 stick of butter
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 lb wild caught shrimp (shell on has more flavor but you can make with either)
2 tablespoons fresh thyme
1-2 tablespoons Cajun or blackened seasoning
1 teaspoon old bay
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon fresh minced garlic
Take the shrimp and shake in a bag with some blackened seasoning and Worcestershire. Get a 6 inch skillet hot and add butter and garlic. Add contents of shrimp and sauce and cook 2 min each side until sizzling. Squeeze the lemon juice over the top, and serve immediately with some crusty bread seared with garlic and butter. Garnish with parsley.
